My greatest interst is in Childhood Obesity and I am American Board of Obesity Medicine Certified. I work in the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Healthy Weight Center. I also really enjoy seeing patients in a primary care setting at the HDVCH Academic General Pediatrics Practice. I am working on ways to improve the way we deliver preventative care to children. I'm also interested in helping to improve Resident Medical Education in the primary care setting. We are studying the outcomes of an implementation project geared at improving the resident experience as well as improve patient care.

Why I chose to practice in Grand Rapids...

I wanted to spend more time working in Obesity Medicine and working towards improving the healthcare children receive. I find the leadership at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital to be open to new ideas and invested in it's physicians to help take healthcare to the next level. The people of West Michigan are all really nice and friendly and it's a great place to raise a family.

Why I chose to practice in Grand Rapids...

I am dedicated to resident education and love discussing cases with residents at morning report, in multidisciplinary conference, etc. I am also excited about the new MSU Grand Rapids Research Center (under construction) and the opportunity to expand pediatric research in Grand Rapids in partnership with HDVCH and with basic and social science colleagues in East Lansing and Flint.
