Intentional Inclusion at Spectrum Health

Spectrum Health is committed to creating a culture that is respectful, inclusive and positive. Our success is tied to our ability to attract and retain diverse and culturally intelligent residents and fellows. We value inclusiveness and equity of opportunities for all individuals. As a system we have many moving parts; each part is interconnected and is vital to the health and well-being of our organization. Working together we can achieve and maintain a healthy, inclusive culture that fosters a sense of belonging, inspires innovation and provides equitable care.

We are committed to fostering and advancing inclusion and diversity in our workforce, workplace, leadership, faculty and programs. We want every resident, fellow, and faculty member who joins a Spectrum Health graduate medical education program to feel included and respected. We believe in equity for everyone.

In partnership with GRMEP, a residency diversity council is in place to improve recruitment and retention of medical graduates from underrepresented communities. To ensure progress, we have established a Resident and Fellow Diversity subcommittee, comprised of residents and fellows, to support our goals.
